Vibhu Academy Charitable Trust® (VACT)

Vibhu Academy Charitable Trust (VACT) is a registered trust, initiated by the hosts and friends of Vibhu Academy in the year 2020.

VACT works towards renovating ancient Devālayas, revival of devālaya traditions, financial support to archakas and promoting of Sanskṛtam and Vedic studies.

Our ancient Devālayas are personifications of Bhāratiya samskṛti. They document our age-old architectural styles, precious iconography, practice the various āgamas, host many regional artforms, protect dharma. Preserve the regional culture, inspire spiritual thoughts and bond people together socially, and promote trade and economy. They house valuable inscriptions, manuscripts, and even numismatic material, which are primary sources of historical information. Protecting our devālayas is the need of the day and a great service to Desha and Dharma. We welcome sajjanas to join hands with us in this noble seva and revive the glory of our Devālayas.

In the year 2022, Pravasodyama Department, Govt of Karnataka, recognized VACT as a body_lp that undertakes renovation works of Devālayas and heritage monuments.

Procedure

Restoration of Ancient Devālayas needs to be carried out with utmost care with minimal use of modern cement steel etc and conventional material like jaggery alalekayi lime etc, for best results.

VACT has taken utmost precaution in renovating the devālayas so far.

VACT has the advise and guidance of Sri Krishna Murthy (Retired Deputy Superintending Engineer, Archealogy Survey of India), who has decades of experience with ancient devālayas and VACT account is audited by an authorized Auditing firm. Process has been initiated to obtain 80G.

Projects taken up by VACT

  • Complete renovation of Sri Krṣna devālaya at Hebburu, Kunigal dt, Karnataka (completed) Cost Rs 10 Lakhs
  • Complete renovation of Sri Bhujangeśwara devālaya, Ummatturu, Chamarājanagara dt, Karnātaka (renovation still in progress ), First phase of renovation completed at the cost of Rs14 lakhs
  • Financial and Medical support and rations provided to the needy Archakas and purohitas (23 of them) during covid crisis. (2020-22)
  • Free treatment given to Ummatturu devālaya archaka for leg injury by AV hospital, the doctors of which are a part of VACT projects.
  • Presently providing monthly financial support to archakas of Ummatturu devālaya and Dattapeeta devālaya, Chikkamagaluru dt, Karnataka
  • Funding of regular pujā and utsavas and maintenance at Ummatturu devālaya
  • Gow-Seva- VACT has adopted 10 Desi Malenadu Gidda Cows to support Malenaadu Gidda Samvardhana Trust, that rescues and nurtures Malanadu-Gidda Desi cow species, which is in the verge of extinction.

Future Projects and Activities

  • Forming a Devālaya Parivār, a group of sevākartas, to take up identifying and cleaning functional ancient Devālayas.
  • Two Devālayas have been identified for renovation in future-
  • Renovation will be carried out in association with the devālaya Trust. The estimated cost is around Rs 10 lakhs.
  • Divya Lingeśwara swamy Devālaya located at Haradanahalli, Chamaraja Nagara.
